Hello! My name is Airiana Romero, and I am from San Jose, CA. I am a first-time beardie mom, and Mushu is my first bearded dragon. She was gifted to us on Christmas Eve. Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but Mushu quickly became a cherished part of our lives. She grew attached to me, and I grew attached to her, forming a bond that I never expected. At the end of January 2026, I noticed Mushu was becoming sick. The signs were clear—she wasn't eating, drinking, and was very lethargic. After a visit to the vet, she was diagnosed with Coccidia and received treatment. For a while, it seemed like she was getting better, but in April, her symptoms returned, and she began struggling again. Later that month continuing into May all the way up until now, she has been through various treatments for multiple parasites, intestinal issues as well as heart rhythm issues. All things that she unfortunately contributed while she was under the pet stores care before she was given to us. She is on the road to recovery finally but still under treatment at this time.
Caring for Mushu has been both rewarding and challenging. Her ongoing health issues have required multiple vet visits and treatments, which have added up quickly. I had to put many of her expenses on my credit card because I didn't have the money up front, and now I'm facing the stress of paying off those bills while making sure Mushu gets the care she needs. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover her ongoing vet visits and pay down the credit card debt from her medical expenses, allowing me to focus on Mushu's recovery and well-being.
I want to thank everyone in advance for their support. I know times are tough for many, so if you're unable to donate, even sharing Mushu's GoFundMe would mean the world to us. Your kindness and generosity will help Mushu get the care she needs and give us hope during this difficult time. We really appreciate it as Mushu is part of our small family. She was the unexpected piece we were missing and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.
Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts
