Mushashi is fighting for his life — and we need to raise funds immediately to keep him on life-saving treatment. Without it, he won’t survive.
Meet Mushashi!
Mushashi is a kitten who has always been the heart of the cat café in Pismo Beach. He’s the first to greet visitors at the door, quick to curl up in a lap, and loved by everyone who meets him. His gentle nature and playful spirit make him a favorite among visitors and other cats alike. On his healthy days, Mushashi loves chasing bits of string, sunbathing, and exploring for bugs — bringing joy to everyone around him.
Recently, Mushashi found his forever home and quickly became the center of attention in his new family. He fit seamlessly into their lives, bringing comfort and happiness to everyone. There’s even a special bond — Mushashi’s birthday is on the 24th, following a family pattern of birthdays on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
But this happy pattern came with challenges, too. The father was recently hospitalized with a viral infection, the mother faced pregnancy complications, and their baby arrived early. Just as things were beginning to settle, Mushashi’s health took a sudden and heartbreaking turn.
Mushashi suddenly became lethargic, stopped eating, lost weight, and struggled to breathe. He was rushed to the emergency vet, where tests revealed a massive buildup of fluid in his chest cavity (pleural effusion) that was preventing his lungs from fully expanding. The prognosis was grave.
After an emergency procedure to drain the fluid, Mushashi showed incredible resilience — but he is still in critical condition. His medical team now has a high suspicion for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a rare and often fatal viral disease.
Despite the seriousness of his condition, Mushashi’s family and doctors have decided to fight. They are moving forward with an aggressive FIP treatment plan — one of the only options that could save his life. Without treatment, Mushashi would almost certainly not survive.
