Hello everyone,
This is my best friend’s dog Murphy. He is a 7 year old Shih Tzu. Victoria was raised by deaf parents and had always wanted a dog growing up. She knew that pets come with expenses and that it was best to not adopt as her mom does not work.
After her grandmother passed away, Victoria had adopted her grandmother’s dog Murphy and promised to take good care of him. Having Murphy for about 2 years, the family started to notice Murphy’s left eye had a green tint, assuming it was a cataract/floaters (which is common with Shih Tzu’s). After multiple vet visits, over the past 2 years Murphy was diagnosed with Glaucoma in January, after noticing the eye has bled out and pressures in the eye were not decreasing. After spending $1000 in vet exams and meds, Victoria took Murphy to an eye specialist. Unfortunately, Murphy is in a lot of pain and will have to remove the eye.
Right now the family is trying to come up with the costs for his surgery. But due to covid, her dad is currently laid off and she is the only source of family income. Ultimately they will do whatever they can to cover the costs and make some sacrifices.
I don’t want to put them in this situation and hopefully we can raise some money to help Murphy out. The vet mentioned there may be more unexpected bills during or after his surgery. The surgery will cost about $2,670.
Anything will help. Any small contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
