Help Murphy get dental surgery and avoid euthanasia

Hi everyone,

I'm Matt, and I created this fundraiser for my cat Murphy.

My mum and I adopted brothers Murphy (black and white) and Marshmallow (white) in 2021 after they were dumped and rescued. They are both playful, sweet little guys.

A few weeks ago Murphy was diagnosed with gingivostomatitis which is a debilitating oral disease where severe and chronic inflammation occurs in the mouth and causes unbearable pain. Following the symptoms appearing, he has been in so much pain he stopped eating and can only bring himself to drink milk—he has lost almost all his weight. He has also struggled with self grooming due to both pain and stress.

We were told that the only remedy was tooth extraction as medication would not subdue the issue, even the oral medicine he has in the meantime that is supposed to induce an appetite has barely done so, indicating that even now its not 100% effective.

Ultimately he needs to have his teeth removed in the near future, he cannot live with the physical pain, and the oral medicine is extremely stressful for him (he is naturally a very jumpy kitty), the first time we tried administering it he peed himself in fear. It's beyond sad to witness, because throughout the physical pain it hurts just as much to see the mental pain.

If we cannot afford the dental surgery euthanasia is the only humane thing we can do for him. Of course, we want to avoid euthanasia, especially given he is only 4 years old. We also worry for his brother Marshmallow, who is his other half. Marshmallow even accompanies Murphy to the Vet's office because they love & calm each other so much. If Marshmallow didn't have his brother and best friend around, I'm sure he would change for the worse too.

The money raised from this gofundme would be completely put towards the cost of dental surgery and tooth extraction. The Vet has indicated that it will cost $2300 AUD to cover the entire surgery.
