UPDATE: Murphy is working hard on her long recovery and is very grateful to all who have given funds to help. At this time we are just short of the goal and I ask that you might consider giving what you can if you haven't yet. If you have given, consider another gift if possible. Medical debt is as hard to face as recovery. Murphy has been there for so many of us...let's get her to the goal!
Second update:
While we have raised a substantial amount of money to help Murphy through this challenging time, we are short of our goal. When you think of the difficulty, being out of work, doing occupational therapy, and healing from heart surgery, not to mention the medical debt she will face, you know she needs all of the financial support we can give. The economy is tough for many of us, but let's all do what we can to get this fundraiser over the top.
Original Message :
I am a friend of Murphy Bannerman. I met her 10 years ago when we began to share the fight for justice, along with so many of you. I have admired her since the day we met.
At the beginning of July, our dear Murphy had a stroke and is facing heart surgery to close a hole in her heart. Her Mom has been her primary caregiver. Murphy is recovering and working with speech and occupational therapy to work through some lingering aphasia. As a PR/Coms professional, this has seriously affected her career. Her work is being very supportive, but she has now exhausted her sick and vacation leave, and disability insurance only pays 60% of her salary. Her mom has also taken FMLA to care for her, which has created significant financial strain during an already challenging time. Murphy has been a bright light in our community. Her passion for justice, her dedication to humanity, and her unwavering support for those around her have touched many lives. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her.
Your contribution — no matter the amount — will help cover expenses, ongoing therapies, and caregiving support while Murphy focuses on her healing.
Let’s show Murphy the same compassion, strength, and love that she has so generously given to so many of us.
Thank you for standing with her.
