You all remember our good friend Martha “Muffy” Cooke. She needs our help! For the past 50 years Muffy worked with some of the best riders in the world, then relocated to Aiken, SC continuing her work in the equestrian world at Aiken Saddlery. Then her health tragedy struck…

In February of 2025, Muffy underwent heart surgery to replace a mitral valve. The procedure went well and after a few weeks she was able to return to work.

Shortly thereafter, she had significant pain in her right leg. By the beginning of May, she was unable to stand. After going to the hospital they found an infection in her spine. Muffy was treated with 10 weeks of IV antibiotics at the Pruitt Rehabilitation Center which controlled the infection and eventually in October. she was sent home. Within a few hours of being home alone, Muffy had a fall resulting in a broken right femur. After surgery to repair the femur, she got another infection which required an additional 8 weeks of IV antibiotic treatment. Muffy is now at the NHC Rehabilitation Center in North Augusta, SC. It is an extremely long road ahead and Muffy needs our help to get back her life – she can’t walk, work or take care of herself.

Medicare coverage has reached its maximum and no longer covers the monthly rehabilitation center cost to stay there. Medicaid has not been finalized yet, meanwhile she struggles everyday.

The funds raised will pay for the monthly rent at the Rehabilitation center so she can recover and return home to get her life back.
