Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to write, but I’m reaching out with a hopeful heart and asking for support for my sweet dog, Muffin. She recently went through a terrifying and unexpected medical emergency that nearly cost her her life.
Earlier this week, I noticed that Muffin wasn’t acting like her usual self…she was low energy and showing signs something was very wrong. I scheduled a vet appointment for this week, but before we could even make it to the visit, the clinic called me back with concern after reviewing her symptoms. They strongly advised I take her to the animal hospital immediately.
At the hospital, we learned that Muffin had closed pyometra, a severe and life-threatening uterine infection. Without emergency surgery, she would have gone into septic shock and died.
During pre-surgical testing, the vet also discovered a large nodule on her spleen via ultrasound. After reviewing her case with a radiologist, it was highly recommended to remove her spleen as well to prevent future complications.
So, in one heartbreaking day, Muffin underwent a hysterectomy and a splenectomy. It was a lot for her little body, and at the beginning of surgery, her blood pressure dropped but thankfully the surgical team stabilized her, and the rest of the procedure went smoothly.
I have a strong girl because Muffin pulled through. She was already up and about shortly after the surgery and doing so well that the doctor said she could go home the following day. I am beyond grateful that she is okay.
However, the cost of her life-saving care came to $8,500+. As much as I would never put a price on her life, it’s a huge financial burden I wasn’t prepared for.
If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me and Muffin. Every dollar will go directly toward paying off her vet bills and ensuring she continues to get the care she needs during recovery.
And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help. Muffin is more than just a pet…she’s my family, and right now she needs a village.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, supporting, and loving Muffin alongside me.
With love and gratitude,
Alexandra
