In 2013, my family's church which opened in 1900 in Petal, MS was destroyed by a devastating tornado. After great sacrifice, hard work, and determination the new Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church opened less than a year ago. To see the church destroyed once again by a tornado on Saturday, January 21, 2017 is heartbreaking.
