Help Ms.GiGi Receive her Amputation
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
My name Cheyla! My grandmother is on a fixed income, like most seniors are so I’m looking to help her out in this unexpected situation.
Today, May 8th, 2024 one of the young female cats that frequent the perimeter of my grandmother’s home returned with her right hind tibia completely dangling and disconnected. We have no idea what may have caused this much damage to her leg, there are no open wounds to help indicate what may have happened.
I made a call to Oak Harbor Vet immediately and they were amazing about squeezing us in to get Ms. GiGi some help! Unfortunately the X-Rays did confirm what we had ready kind of suspected and feared most, Ms. Gigi will need to receive an amputation to heal from her injuries properly. The only other option being to see another kind of surgeon and have pins placed in her tibia to reconnect the bone. That would put us well over 5000$. Or to euthanize her, however this seems cruel and unnecessary as we don’t believe her quality of life will be affected. This option is 1000% off the table for us! The lovely Dr. over at Oak Harbor Vet estimated the amputation surgery alone to bring us to about $1500.
At this time Ms. Gigi is on some pretty strong pain medication and we are scheduled to have her surgery a go for Monday. I am happy to share updates along the way on Ms. GiGi’s wellbeing.
Anything helps, my grandma really cares for the cats in our neighborhood and this sweet girl will now have to become an inside cat! Which is absolutely fine. I just would like to do my best to aid my grandmother and her kitty cat companion at this time! Thank you so much :)
And a gentle reminder: Spay and neuter your pets. Our efforts to manage the local cat population have been a labor of love. Let's care for these voiceless companions together.
Thank you, from the depths of our hearts.
With love,
Cheyla and Ms. Gigi❤️
