HELP ZAC AND ISAAC (MSC)

Zac and Isaac drove from Portland to play two shows with King Woman in the bay area as their new project MSC, and on Halloween Eve their van was broken into and their possessions were stolen while they soundchecked in Oakland. Years of music, writing, photographs were taken. They also lost personal belongings and essential medication (Isaac was in a major accident a few years ago and has brain trauma that requires specific meds) which will all need to be replaced.
Zac and Isaac are an integral part of our music community, their new project MSC is spellbinding and you will be hearing more of it soon, but you probably know them from their work in Braveyoung, they have collaborated often with the body, and Zac is/has been a touring member of the body and Uniform. And not just in music; between them there are many gifts in many mediums. They’re also very kind people who we love, who will go out of their way for their friends. They have been there for us through dark times. Hopefully we can all be there for them now.
We cannot blame anyone for doing what they must to survive in the ruthless clusterfuck of late capitalism, and to me The Bay Area has always been a sore of ruthless acquisition from all angles, as wealth encroaches and shoves established communities into tinier corners. But it is sad to violate the private space of any individual who has not done harm, to strip an artist of their tools when they only want to bring beauty through in some way.
We wish there was more we could do. Machines can be replaced and we’ll make that happen here, but the loss of work is a crushing blow that would humble any of us. Yet Zac and Isaac remained gracious, going on to play a beautiful set, thanking everyone profusely for having them out.
Including damage to the van, the loss equates to about $7000. Hopefully we can get there quickly. We thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
