Everyone remembers Ms. Wasserman from woodshop/industrial arts in middle school and knows that she would do anything for her students. Unfortunately, she has found herself in a tough situation, and it's time to help her out instead. Please see her story below:
"I am asking all my FB friends to read this to the end. It is personal and could greatly change the quality of life for me. I have a to give brief back story. In 2011, I caught a student in class who was mid seizure and was about to splat to the ground. Thankfully the student was fine shortly after. I didn’t fare quite as well. I damaged my neck and lower back. For two years workmen’s comp paid for shots and PT. They then deemed me most medically improved even though two spinal specialists disagreed entirely. Next I did a stupid thing and bought into the system and I didn’t go back to them and fight it. Fast forward to roughly a year and a half ago. I paid for new images and a neurologist’s care as my health deteriorated greatly. I no longer can keep up my house, cook, walk anything but short distances and in pain almost constantly. The doctor said I had much more damage now and was helped a bit by prescribing pain meds. I spent weeks trying to get someone at BC/BS to take on my case. They have a twenty year moratorium on paying for injuries originally covered by Worker’s Compensation. By some miracle one day I fell into the tiny department hidden away that reviews these cases and I actually got a name and number to speak with someone directly. Over a six month period many documents and images were sent in to the office. Yesterday, after an extended wait, the department representative gave me their response from the powers that be... NO COVERAGE FROM EITHER INSURER! Heartbroken and still in pain the reality is I need to have appropriate care and I am just an everyday person, careful with my money, but nor loaded. I am reaching out to my FB friends for ideas on any next steps I can take to make all of this doable. Many heads are better than one. If you think of anything PM me. Thanks for taking the time to read this through to the end!"
