Dear friends, family, and community,

I’m reaching out with a big request. In the past I’ve used crowdfunding to further creative projects, but this time I’m writing for medical reasons I am preparing for a necessary medical procedure that is not fully covered by my insurance because it is out of network.

This procedure is important for my health and well-being, and moving forward with it is the best path toward feeling like myself again. The unexpected costs have added up quickly. Imaging, anesthesia, and pre-operative visits have already exceeded $2,000—and that does not yet include the procedure itself.

As a teacher and community member, I spend much of my time supporting others, especially the children and families I work with. It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but I’m learning that receiving support is part of being in community, too.
