My name is Alicia Tucker. Martha Tucker, also known as Ms. Martha, is my mom. We need your help to make repairs to Momma’s home, the home where she grew up, to provide a safe environment where she can continue healing from stage 4 colorectal cancer. The quote received for the repairs is $40,000.
Martha Tucker is a Seneca Recreation staple fondly known as Ms. Martha. She worked for the City of Seneca for 20 years selling concessions. Momma opened her own business named Ms. Martha’s Snaks n’ Stuff in 2009 to continue serving Seneca Rec Families by ensuring access to reasonably priced concessions. Our family has been active in Seneca Recreation for thirty-five years and this was, and is, an important role for Momma and a great source of pride for her. During her time at the ball field, Ms. Martha had the honor of serving kids who now bring their own kids to play rec ball. She is generational! Ms. Martha has stories about so many of you and remembers you with great love.
Ms. Martha was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer in June 2019. One of her first concerns was that she may have to close the concessions business. She was heartbroken. Defying the three-month prognosis given at the hospital, Ms. Martha decided to keep the business going. While undergoing chemotherapy, she continued to run her business, with the help of family, to ensure concessions were available for everyone who came to the ball field. Over two years later, she still wants to serve the families of Seneca.
The family home where she lives needs major repairs to the floors. The floors have sunk several inches creating unsafe conditions and tripping hazards. Currently, Momma is recovering from surgery for a bowel perforation. She requires a safe place to heal completely so that she may start receiving chemotherapy again. She is not giving up - she is a fighter and claims healing.
All funds received will be used to replace floor joists that are damaged and to add new subflooring for the home. There are three or four rooms that will be repaired. These repairs will ensure that Ms. Martha is able to remain in her family home safely while continuing to heal. This is important for our family because Momma is most comfortable in her own surroundings.
Today, as we create this request, Momma is in the hospital following a seizure caused by a brain tumor. Every day she says the same thing, “I just want to go home.” We want her at home as well, but the floors desperately require repair to keep her safe.
We appreciate all assistance for Ms. Martha’s full recovery. If you can give, please do so. Your gift will help ensure Ms. Martha’s safety and mental wellbeing while she is fighting to get back to what she loves – serving you. If you are unable to give currently, please share this on your social media outlets to spread the word.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
