Help Ms. Maine Compete For Ms. USA

My name is Kristan Vermeulen and I am thirty-four years old and living in the greater Portland, Maine area. I believe I will be the best advocate for holding the title of Ms. USA as I have done a lot for my community across the states thus far and I'm one of the best spokespersons when it comes to starting your business, and passion at a young age. I am a mother to two wonderful children, work full-time for a title company in Portland, a podcast host for Makers of the USA, have been on national and local television stations sharing stories about makers and small business entrepreneurs and how the public can support them, spoke to youth groups at local schools about how they can find their passion and career and tips and tricks of how to get there, manage one of the biggest makers markets in Maine, a host of a national streaming television show that speaks to Maine and what to discover in this wonderful state, and so much more.
The reason why I chose to partake in the national pageant in 2025 is because I wanted to do something different. When I think of pageants, I think of Barbies, rainbows, sparkles, and butterflies -- which I'm honestly not thrilled with. When I think of this pageant and why I want to do it, I think of giving back to my community. I want to share my story with other women of all ages so they can hear the challenges and successes of starting their own business, I want to share current issues happening in our state that affect females, the LGBTQ+ community and so much more and reflect on them, I want to promote more of the amazing female small business entrepreneurs in our state by wearing their products and promoting their services at a higher scale. I want to be wearing all American-made, I want to show people that we have amazing skills and creatives in our state and even our nation where we don't have to purchase products outside of our country. I want to help redefine Ms. USA with all of this in mind.
It takes a village to lift up an individual -- their goals, their dreams, their passion. I'm asking for support from my community. The community that has given me so much since I started Makers of Maine - Makers of the USA. In order to continue telling your stories at a greater level, I need to get to these bigger audiences in different ways. This one I really want to tackle first. Help get me to Ms. United States of America. Let's bring a title home to Maine. Your support will help me with expenses towards the pageant (which is Memorial Day Weekend in Las Vegas), a couple of events I plan to organize that will help females be more educated in starting their own businesses, and giving back to nonprofits including Black Owned Maine and Indigo Arts Alliance to help provide a voice to makers of black and brown color.
Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting me!
xoxo
