Help Ms. Lewis, from Fort Hunt ES, Keep Her Home

As we all know, many in our community are being negatively impacted by the cumulative impact of COVID-19. Unfortunately, Ms. Cassandra Lewis, a member of the Fort Hunt ES cafeteria staff, is one of those people. She reached out to me to share how the pandemic is debilitating her ability to provide for her family, which includes her niece and nephew , both students at Fort Hunt ES.
Ms. Lewis shared with me the many ways the pandemic is negatively impacting the health and security of her family. Like many of you, Ms. Lewis’ niece and nephew are requiring constant support during virtual learning. This reality coupled with the lack of childcare options has prevented her from working her regular 2nd job. Without the ability to earn additional income, Ms. Lewis is unable to afford her monthly expenses and is afraid of losing her home in the next couple of months.
Under normal circumstances, Ms. Lewis would be one of the smiling faces welcoming and supporting the Fort Hunt ES and cafeteria visitors on a daily basis. Now she is in need of support. I have always been proud to be part of the most supportive community in Fairfax County, Fort Hunt. This community wants to help the members of our community in need. I have constantly been told by the community members this is something they too identified with and love about Fort Hunt. Working together, the Fort Hunt community helped a beloved staff member purchase a car and enabled a family to focus on their child’s fight against leukemia.
I am hopeful you will consider contributing to help Ms. Lewis support her family during this extremely difficult time.
