Help Jess get on her feet.

Hi everyone, I’m Jessica and I’m a Prekindergarten teacher. On August 12th 2023 I began having sharp pain on my right side. Over the years I have become familiar with the sharp pain I was experiencing on my side and figure it was a kidney stone as in previous times. I went to urgent care that afternoon after my appetite had diminished and the pain became worse. The first urgent care I went to did not have an ultrasound machine and used my history of kidney stones to conclude I was once again passing a stone. They gave me a pain shot and medicine to break down the stone and sent me home. This was just the beginning of the journey. By 7PM I was vomiting consistently up until 2AM and battling a fever. On Sunday August 13th I went to Ellis Medicals Emergent care where they discovered I in fact did have a kidney stone and I was dehydrated. But it was much worse than that. The stone was causing a blockage and my blood work showed I had a very bad infection in my kidneys. Emergent care immediately sent me to the emergency room and after 20 minutes of being there they admitted me. The bacteria that was causing the kidney infection had spread to my blood making me septic. I had a ureter stent placed in my body that Monday to help clear the blockage and keep things flowing from kidney to bladder and I was placed on multiple antibiotics to fight the infection. The battle was figuring out what bacteria it was and getting the fevers down. I spent 5 days in Ellis Hospital with their wonderful staff on C6.

When I was admitted into the hospital I did not have health insurance. The wonderful staff at Ellis helped me obtain health insurance and helped me apply for a grant to pay for my 5 day stay. The medical bills have begun to come in and I have been out of work for some time due to this mess. To help alleviate some of the stress of worrying about the bills I have started this go fund me in hopes of receiving some support towards my recovery.
