We are starting this fundraiser for our friend, artist, and DJ Mrs Magoo, who has recently suffered a sudden and serious medical emergency.

On Friday, Magoo contacted her GP with severe back pain but was refused an appointment. On Saturday she attended A&E due to worsening symptoms but was sent away without scans or investigations. By Monday, her condition had become severe and she returned to A&E, by which point she was experiencing numbness and loss of sensation.

She was diagnosed with suspected Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES), a rare and serious condition where the nerves at the base of the spine become compressed. These nerves control movement and sensation in the lower body, and if not treated urgently the condition can lead to permanent nerve damage.

She underwent emergency spinal surgery on Wednesday.

Following surgery, Magoo is now in the early stages of what will be a long, uncertain and frightening recovery process. Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) can affect mobility, sensation, and nerve function, and she is currently experiencing ongoing numbness and neurological symptoms as a result of the nerve compression. At this stage, the full extent of her recovery is still unknown, and both she and her medical team will only be able to assess progress over time.

This has been an incredibly traumatic experience, and she is understandably scared about what the future looks like.

Magoo is a self-employed DJ, and like so many artists in the scene, her income depends entirely on her ability to perform, travel, and take bookings. She is currently unable to work, with no clear timeline for return, and is now facing a sudden loss of income alongside the physical and emotional impact of major spinal surgery.

She is not only an artist on my roster, but also one of my best friends. She is a much-loved part of the jungle dnb music community, known for her energy, passion, and the joy she brings to dancefloors.

We are calling on friends, DJs, musicians, promoters, and anyone in the wider community who has ever connected with her music or spirit to come together and support her during this time.
