Hello, my name is Devon Moulton but my students call me Mrs. Lava. I am currently fundraising for an electric wheelchair to be utilized at home and at work. I started my 6th year of teaching special education and became ill at the beginning of the school year. In September, we discovered brain lesions and I started having neurological symptoms more frequently; the biggest being difficulty walking and severe head and facial pain. I no longer drive due to my right side being more affected. I'm currently seeing a neurologist at UC Davis trying to get a diagnosis and will be doing a lumbar puncture along with other tests to try to understand what's causing my decline.

I debated for weeks about fundraising but after exhausting all sick leave and managing hospital bills I figured I'd give it a shot.

My goal is to first purchase a W1 Paiseec electric wheelchair. Any extra funds raised will be used to purchase extra Paiseec batteries as well as pay off remaining medical bills with UC Davis. At this time I am on unpaid leave if I'm too ill to come into work and believe this option may give me more freedom and help preserve energy so I have more "good" days.
