Thank you for taking the time to hear my mom’s story.

For those of you who do know my mom (often recognized as Mrs. Kho) personally or know of her, it is widely known how loving, caring, funny, and joyful she is. She is always filled with laughter, positivity, and always puts a smile on peoples’ faces. She constantly inspires not only her family including her two children, but also the hundreds of students she has taught over the past 23 years. As a junior high (middle school) history teacher at Toll Middle School, she has always dreamt of making a positive difference in the world through the hearts and minds of our youth. She has never given up on me, my brother, or her students.

Unfortunately, the news came around late February of this year when my mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. She discovered a dense lump in her left breast that caught immediate attention. After several tests, scans, etc., the biopsy results came back positive for breast cancer. Understanding and accepting the results were not difficult for my mom, as she remained positive, kept a smile on her face, and allowed the Lord to take care of this obstacle in her life. However, after many more meetings with her breast surgeon, oncologists, and doctors, it was determined that a complete mastectomy surgery was required.

On April 16th, she went in for the removal of her left breast and has been left with further instructional care from the doctors. She continues to live her life to the fullest and tries to put the good over the bad. Despite all the mental and physical challenges that she is facing, she still manages to grade her students papers, tries to cook for the family, and attends church service on Sundays.

Within the upcoming months of May, June, and July, she will be going through several treatments of chemotherapy to ensure that those cancer cells have been fully terminated and do not spread through the lymph nodes. There are many unknown challenges that she will be facing within these upcoming months and I hope that the love and support she can get will help her fight through this journey.

These funds will be used towards any medical bills that accumulate over the course of her chemotherapy. Thank you all for the support, donations, and prayers. May she be given the peace of mind, strength, and healing!
