“Our beloved Art Teacher at Camey Elementary, Jennifer Griffin, has had some major challenges thrown her way. I have permission to share her story because she needs our help!
Mrs. Griffin has given to many students over her 26 years at Camey Elementary. She brings happiness, laughter and the most beautiful art creations you can imagine! The kids and staff love her! Mrs. Griffin is a single mother who is raising her mini-me, Jona. She balances it like a champ.
Recently, she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Obviously, as a parent, this is the last thing you want to worry about. She is a tough lady and will beat this but it is still stressful with the amount of doctor visits and surgery she will be having.
Not only is she battling that but, Mrs. Griffin's house was completely flooded by city sewage water. The whole house is ruined and will need to be completely torn out (floors, walls, bathroom, kitchen). Her insurance does not cover sewage and the city is not claiming it is their fault. The damage is $60-75K!!! She already had her floors re-done after our snow storm in February because she had a pipe burst. So, after having brand new, beautiful floors put in, her house was covered in her community's waste! This strong women needs our help because she lost everything in her house. She is displaced at the moment with her daughter and 3 dogs. She is commuting further to work as well. If you have any money to spare, please help a wonderful woman out. If not, please send your thoughts and prayers for her.”
