Help Mrs. Brenner Rebuild Her Classroom

For over 15 years, my wife Heather has poured her heart and soul into teaching, guiding and inspiring our youngest learners in kindergarten and first grade. She has invested countless hours and countless dollars of her own into creating a warm, engaging classroom for her students. It has been filled with curriculum tools she developed herself, furniture she purchased to make learning spaces more comfortable, and a treasure trove of teaching resources collected over the years.

This summer we moved to our hometown of Salisbury, Maryland to be closer to our families. We put our belongings, including all of Heather’s classroom materials, into a brand new climate-controlled storage unit while we transitioned.

Unfortunately, the facility’s HVAC system was faulty, and we were never notified. Thirty-five days after storing our items, we discovered that a major mold problem had developed. Nearly everything was ruined. We had to throw away years of her hard work and personal investment, including the materials she was excited to bring into her first year teaching at her new school.

Heather has never been one to ask for help. As her husband, I want to see if our friends and community can come together to help her start fresh.

Our goal is modest and intended only to help her replace essential classroom items so she can give her students the best start possible. While the funds will go directly to Heather, they will ultimately benefit her students — the children who will walk into her classroom each day ready to learn, explore, and grow.
