Help Mrs. Bernal on her fight with Cancer!

Hi, my name is Laura Bernal. I am a Pre-K Teacher at Primrose School of Crystal Falls. IJust a little background for you to understand. Summer of 2021 after the craziness of COVID-19 I decided to drive my family down to my hometown in Mexico to spend some days with my parents and siblings. While in there I woke up one day with a very strong pain on the left side of my abdomen (I blamed it on the spicy food thinking it was colitis).

The pain just got worse so I had to go to the doctor and an ultrasound showed that I had a tumor on my left ovary that had to be removed immediately along with a hysterectomy. Biopsy showed ovarian cancer and chemo was next. After 8 months I was able to come back and enjoy my remission. I found this amazing job and became part of the beautiful family that is PRIMROSE.

I was working hard to stay in remission, hit the 5 year goal and sing victory..... until last month that we traveled to see my family again for just a few days and a routine check up showed that cancer decided to come back.

Just last Wednesday I saw my oncologist and she explained to me that I have to repeat chemo and follow the same protocols as I did in Mexico. She seems very optimistic since it was caught early and believes it will respond to the treatment.

Unfortunately I have to walk away from this job that I love dearly to be able to focus on my health, isolate myself due to a rather weak immune system during treatment and pray for a fast recovery.

I can tell you that the children gave me all the energy I needed to recover from the first round's sequels. I know the time we shared and the memories we made are going to be a huge force for me to beat this thing once and for all so I can go back to them.

I still don't have a date for when I will start my treatment, but I am hoping that by the end of the month or first week of August at the latest.

In the meantime I am going to enjoy my days with them, making the best of the rest of the summer and having fun while learning and playing.

I greatly thank all of you for always being so supportive to our class; Ms Noemi and I are very lucky and all I can ask from you is your prayers and good vibes.....maybe every now and then just let me know how my babies are doing because God knows I am going to miss them.
