Help Mr. Speck's Playhouse Recover!
Mr. Speck's Playhouse is a small, independent business that cares for, grooms, and offers supplies to the dog population of Los Angeles. We were devastated to find that late Friday night we were looted and vandalized, and partially destroyed.
We are a small business that put our heart and soul into Mr Specks Playhouse. We are deeply saddened at the scene we had come into this morning including all of the surrounding small business’s.
While all workers and dogs were unharmed, we are faced with many difficulties. 85% of our retail supply was stolen. Our computers, register, point of sale system, and other business necessities were stolen. Windows were smashed, walls were damaged, and what was previously a clean, safe space for people and dogs alike now requires significant repair.
The Mr. Speck's Playhouse staff has worked hard over the last few months to remain open. COVID-19 caused us to close for a few weeks in March and has forced us into limited hours since, but we've fought back and were finally getting our footing. We love our customers and do our very best to take care of all of our dogs, but we don't know when we'll be able to reopen due to the building damage and economic implications of Friday night's ransacking.

Our doors on Fairfax were smashed. Special thanks to the Trygstad family for helping put up boards and help prevent further theft.
Dog food, medicine, and other goods were stolen from our shelves.
