Help Mr. Shrimp After Hurricane Ida
Donation protected
We are raising money for Mr. Shrimp, Larry Thompson, a beloved small business owner who lives in the bayou community of Estelle, Louisiana, about 11 miles from the small fishing community of Jean Lafitte. The area, which received catastrophic wind and flooding from Hurricane Ida, had never seen a storm like this before, even Katrina.
Mr. Shrimp buys fresh shrimp right off the boat and delivers them to restaurants. He also delivers raw and cooked shrimp to customers a few pounds at a time. He considers it a blessing to serve people. Anyone who has ever met Mr. Shrimp knows the blessing is him.
Mr. Shrimp, his wife, and three minor children, had devastating damage to their home, which has been deemed unlivable due to water damage and mold, hindering him from running his business to pay for repairs or supporting his family. The family lost pieces of their roof, and accumulated water in their walls. All of the inventory and the machinery used to produce his “Throw it in the Pot” and “Shrimp Enhancer” seasoning products were destroyed due to water damage.
Assistance programs such as FEMA have only offered hotels in areas that are unsafe for a family.
Home insurance is not covering additional living expenses.
Your donations will go towards home repairs and helping to restart his shrimp delivery, catering, and seasoning blends businesses, in a community that is absolutely devastated.
Mr. Shrimp rebuilt after losing everything in Katrina. Let’s help him rebuild again.
