My name is Kate, and I am reaching out to share the story of Mr. Rob Pizza, a kind-hearted 65-year-old man who recently lost everything in a devastating fire. I first met Mr. Pizza through my previous job, and he has always been someone who gives back to others, even when he has little himself. On Friday, December 19th, 2025, Mr. Pizza’s trailer in Mechanicsville, MD, was destroyed by fire, along with his van and personal car. Tragically, he also lost all of his belongings, including vital medical equipment for his COPD.

By chance, I saw Mr. Pizza walking home from the grocery store and was able to give him a ride and some money for food. Despite his hardships, he told me how grateful he was for what he had, and how he had recently used his van to deliver food and clothing to those in need. Now, with his home and vehicles gone, Mr. Pizza is facing unimaginable challenges. He is a former union painter whose retirement was lost when his local filed for bankruptcy, and he now survives on a small monthly social security check. While the Red Cross is helping with some immediate needs, Mr. Pizza needs much more support to rebuild his life.

I am asking our community to come together to help Mr. Pizza secure a new place to live, replace his essential belongings, and purchase a vehicle so he can regain his independence.
