Hi everyone, I'm raising funds for my cat Jazz. Jazz has been my cat for 19 years; he is my everything. We grew up together. He was given to me when I myself was around four or five by one of my mom’s friends who couldn’t keep a cat. After that he had gone everywhere with me; to my tournaments, parades and competitions. He would even go with my family to pick me up from school. He was my first cat that was MY cat and not just a family cat. Jazz is an amazing cat who essentially serves as my support pillar.
Due to my disabilities, sometimes I have really bad days of anxiety or depression. Jazz was able to train himself on ways to calm me down and keep me calm. He was also able to teach our other pets, like my dog Crystal, how to do the same. He's one of the main reasons I strive to finish school and to become a veterinarian.
Recently, Jazz was diagnosed with stage 2 CKD(Chronic Kidney Disease), and his vets have suggested that I take him to see an internal medicine specialist to get an ultrasound of his kidneys. I'm currently short on funds not only to take him to the internal medicine specialist but to pay for his normal vet bills and medicine as well.
Jazz requires daily fluids and a special renal support diet, which costs around $3.29/can and $86/ 8lb bag. Reaching out to my family for help with money is no longer an option, and I'm currently unable to get a job due to being a full-time student.
Jazz is, as described by his vet, "a dignified old man". He is full of life; he paws at my face to make sure I wake up on time. He asks for food without appetite stimulants, plays with toys, and wanders around the house trying to copy what the other cats do. He loves to kick me off my heating pads and cuddle under the blankets with me when we sleep.
Jazz's story isn’t over yet. He still has a strong excitement for life. That’s why I'm asking for help to get him the medical care he needs. Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated at this point.
My starting goal is $3000 to cover a visit to the internal medicine specialist, any extra vet visits and any possible change to his treatment plan.
