Help Mr H join the herd- gelding fund

Hello, my name is Hannah and I'm hoping to raise money for Mr H. I have chosen to protect his name.

At the end of August last year I went to view a stallion. His advert showed a healthy horse, but when I arrived, what I saw was very different.

Mr H was heartbreakingly underweight. His ribs and pelvis were clearly visible. His muzzle was covered in warts and his body was marked with bite wounds. He looked exhausted and defeated.
The sellers told me they had owned him for a year. I later discovered this wasn’t true — they had only had him for around six weeks. In that short time, Mr H had reportedly been used to serve up to 40 mares.
I was even told that just before I collected him, they had to force him to service his last mare.

Apon meeting Mr H. He was gentle, kind, and incredibly trusting. Underneath the tired body was the sweetest horse.
I knew I couldn’t go home without him

I brought Mr H home that day, and he travelled perfectly the entire way. From the moment he arrived, my goal has been to give him the life he should have always had — one where he is safe, cared for, and loved.

Not long after bringing him home, I tried to track down some of his history. That’s when I discovered something else that had never been disclosed to me.

Just two weeks before I bought him, Mr H had allegedly tried to jump a field gate. Instead he flipped over it and landed on his back. None of this had been mentioned by the people I bought him from.

Since bringing him home it has been a long road helping this boy recover. Mr H was confused and seemed lost at first. He has slowly gained weight, confidence, and trust. His hooves have regular trims to help with a large crack in one hoof and an imbalanced back hoof. Developed by a conformation issue with his left back leg.

However, there is one more important step that needs to happen...

Mr H needs to be gelded.

Even though he has the most gentle temperament, gelding will help him live a calmer, healthier, and happier life. Because of his age, the procedure cannot be done standing — he will need to go under general anaesthetic at Rainbow Equine Hospital.

At the moment, Mr H cannot yet join the rest of our herd because he still shows stallion-like behaviour in the field with our geldings. For now he has to stay separate, which isn’t ideal for such a social animal. We can see how much he longs to be part of the herd, watching them over the fence and wanting to interact. Gelding him will give him the best chance of settling safely with the other horses and finally living as part of the group.

The cost quoted for the surgery is between £1,000 and £1,200.
I am hoping to get the surgery done before the warmer weather arrives, as recovery is much safer during cooler months.
Mr H has already been through so much in his life. He deserves the chance to simply be a horse — not a breeding machine, not a neglected animal — just a horse who is safe, comfortable, and loved.

I really appreciate any help at all and feel incredibly cheeky even just starting a go fund me. However Mr H needs this and I need your help to get him there.
If you can donate anything at all to help towards his surgery, it would mean the world to us both.

And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would help more than you know.

Thank you for taking the time to read Mr H's story and for helping give this incredible boy the second chance he truly deserves and being part of his story.
