Mr. Grey is my beautiful 15-year-old Maine Coon cat, and he has been my loving companion since 2017. He has always been healthy and full of life, but last fall everything changed. He started losing a lot of weight, began throwing up, stopped eating his food, and was drinking a lot of water. I took him to the vet, and after several tests, he was diagnosed with a thyroid condition. The initial bill was overwhelming, which included blood work and medication for a year. I managed to cover the first payment and the first round of medication, but unfortunately, Mr. Grey did not tolerate the medication well. Since then, his condition has gotten worse. He yowls in pain every day, and I open several cans of food just hoping he'll eat something. I've run out of his initial medication, and he's resumed throwing up and is now rail thin. He desperately needs to go back to the vet this week for more blood work, new medication, an appetite stimulant, and better food. The costs are expected to be significant. To make matters harder, I was laid off from my job just two weeks before Christmas, and I simply don't have the extra funds to help my beloved pet. I am starting back to work next week, but Mr. Grey needs emergency care now. It breaks my heart to see him suffer, and I am doing everything I can to help him.
