My name is Eduardo Chenu, and I teach 2nd–3rd grade. Every day, I see how hard my students work—and how different their reading needs can be. In one classroom, students can range from developing basic phonics skills to reading chapter books independently. I want to meet each child where they are and help them grow with confidence.
Our school is experiencing major budget cuts, and many essential classroom resources are being reduced or postponed. At the same time, several of our families have faced serious hardship. Some were displaced or financially affected by last year’s wildfires in Altadena, and I don’t feel comfortable asking parents to contribute when so many are still recovering. My goal is to get this literacy support for students without adding any extra burden to families.
I’m raising funds to purchase Lexia Core5 Reading, a research-based literacy program that provides individualized instruction in phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and language development. Lexia Core5 adapts to each student’s level and gives immediate feedback, helping students stay motivated and make steady progress. It also gives me clear data so I can target small-group instruction and support students who need extra practice. Your support will directly fund classroom access to Lexia Core5 and progress monitoring tools that help me tailor instruction to student needs. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps bring meaningful reading support to students who deserve every opportunity to succeed. Thank you for donating and/or sharing this campaign. I truly appreciate your support.
