Help Mr. Chen Get a Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My name is Daniel Shotkin, and I'm one of the students lucky enough to have had Mr. Chen as a teacher. If you've ever been in Mr. Chen's class, you know he isn't your average teacher. Over his ten years as a physics teacher at Westwood Regional High School, he has gone above and beyond to create a tight-knit academic community. Whether it's staying hours after school to offer extra help or hosting fun traditions like his aptly named Chen Awards, Mr. Chen’s class has been one of the most memorable experiences of my time at Westwood.
But now, Mr. Chen needs our help.
He has been diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease—his kidneys have failed. His doctors have identified that he would benefit greatly from a kidney transplant, the most effective treatment for his condition. A living donor could dramatically improve his quality of life and allow him to stop dialysis.
If you or someone you know would consider becoming a donor, you can complete an anonymous, non-binding questionnaire at CBMCLivingDonor or reach out via email at [email redacted].
Even if you're not in a position to consider organ donation, there are still many ways to help. Donating to this GoFundMe will help Mr. Chen cover the cost of the medications and treatments he needs. Sharing this page will also spread the word and increase the chances of finding a matching donor.
Any support, no matter how big or how small, helps.
