Mr. Boom is more than just a pet—he’s my family, and seeing him in pain has been heartbreaking. It all started when I noticed he wasn’t acting like himself. He seemed to be in pain, struggling with even the simplest movements. Trusting my instincts, I rushed him to the nearest emergency vet, even though it was an hour and a half away and the middle of the night on New Year’s. The vet found he had a fever of unknown origin, a high white blood cell count, and an enlarged lymph node on his back left leg. I chose to bring him home and start antibiotics, rather than leave him alone in the hospital where I couldn’t comfort him. He’s like a son to me, and I wanted to be by his side. After fluids, antibiotics, and careful monitoring, he seemed to bounce back and was his old self again.
But about a week after finishing treatment, Mr. Boom started showing the same troubling signs—this time without a fever. I took him to another vet as soon as they opened, and we did more bloodwork, testing, and x-rays, but the results were inconclusive. The vet wanted to sedate him for further tests, but I was worried about the risks and didn’t think it was necessary. So far, I’ve spent a significant amount and still don’t have clear answers. He’s back on antibiotics, and I’m planning to take him to another vet for more testing, as well as a holistic vet for a second opinion.
The costs are adding up quickly, and I want to do everything I can to help Mr. Boom get better. The funds raised will go toward his emergency visits, medications, further testing, and any treatments that might give him a chance at a full recovery. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Thank you for caring about Mr. Boom and helping us through this difficult time.
