Help Mount Moon Seedlings grow a secure food future

Howdy fellow Green thumbs!
We’re Brooklyn and Kirsty, the founders of Mount Moon Seedlings, located in the heart of Mount Compass, in the Southern Fleurieu region.
We are two passionate individuals with a shared vision for sustainable and local food production - especially in the face of today’s uncertain food supply chain.
Our mission is simple but vital; We believe that healthy, locally grown seedlings are key to securing a sustainable food future right in our own backyards.
Why Local Seedlings Matter:
In a world where supply chains are under pressure and global events impact how food is grown and distributed, it’s more important than ever to support local growers.
Healthy and locally available seedlings are the foundation of this.
The Growing Demand:
When we first started, we couldn’t have anticipated the sudden interest in what we are doing. The demand for our veggie seedlings has exceeded our expectations - people are excited to grow their own, and we’re excited to help them do it. But the reality is that we’re a small operation in the very vulnerable stages of business start up, without the capital to scale up in order to keep up.
Both Kirsty and I work part-time and have our own unique life challenges. As autistic entrepreneurs, we have a lot to be excited about in starting a business that aligns with our shared values. Which means that building a business that suits our strengths is crucial for our well-being. Working for ourselves provides the flexibility we need to thrive. But to realize our dream of providing local, sustainable seedlings, on a full time scale, we need your help.
Why We Need Your Support:
With your help, we can:
- Purchase essential growing media like organic compost, and other inputs for our special soil blocking recipe.
- Expand our growing space to include 6 poly tunnels in need of some loving (and plastic) in order to increase production and accommodate the demand.
- Invest in better equipment such as soil blocking equipment, germination chamber supplies, irrigation misters and many many seeding trays to grow high-quality seedlings and ensure we can meet the needs of our community.
- Promote our mission, create informative brochures to send out with our seedlings and up our packaging game so we can continue using no waste practices.
How You Can Help:
By donating to our campaign, you’re not just helping a small business grow-you’re supporting a movement to bring waste free, local food into our community.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant impact. Your donation will allow us to continue growing alongside our community.
In return for your generosity, we are offering some tiered rewards, including early access to our seedlings, personalized gardening consults, and tours of our growing space.
Rewards for Your Support:
- $25: Thank You! – A personalized drawing sent out to you and our heartfelt appreciation.
- $50: Seedling starter pack 1 – A starter 4 pack of seedlings.
- $100: Seedling starter pack 2 – A starter 9 pack of seedlings.
- $250: VIP tour – A tour of our greenhouses and your own hand selected seedling pack.
