Help Motor Officer Sgt Dan Teague w medical expens

Donation protected

Sgt Dan Teague with Southern Regional PD and his wife Amanda are probably some of the nicest people you will ever meet.  When Amanda finally broke down and told me all she and Dan are dealing with my heart hurt.  I immediately called another motor officer and we blessed Amanda with gas cards to make the hour trip back and fourth to be by Dan's side hurt less.  It wasn't a lot but she was so grateful.  I then ask how they were doing otherwise.  She confided in me that with Dan only being on short term disability and her cut hours at work, things were extremely tight.  She was stressed about so much.  I love Amanda and I just knew there was a  way to help.   So please consider donating to help this family get through this cancer battle.  They should solely be focused on getting Dan all healed up and not how they will pay for everything.   Love you Dan and Amanda!

Dan's words below:

Cancer surgery:

In mid December of 2020 I had Covid and after recovering from a mild case of it I was having various health issues that were initially believed to be post-Covid related. During this time the doctor drew blood for labs. He called me and said that my liver functions were off the charts and wanted me to see a specialist. When meeting with the specialist in mid-February the specialist ran more tests and believed that whatever was going on with my liver would slowly heal itself and return to normal. Over the next week I became lethargic and tired quickly while doing just about any task. My skin and eyes began to jaundice. I had a loss of appetite and when I did eat I would get extreme pain in my stomach area. My skin began to itch uncontrollably as well as several other symptoms. Like a typical male I figured things would improve on their own. Amanda knew better and called the specialist. He advised me to go to the emergency department right away. I was admitted that evening and spent the next whole week in the hospital. During this time I had three endoscopy procedures. They found that there was a mass blocking my ampulla gland. We had no clue what that’s as and had to look it up. It’s a bile duct that the liver, gall bladder, pancreas all release bile as it enters the small intestine. The doctor removed a chunk of the mass and placed a stint in that area. The first plastic stint failed and was crushed so two metal stunts were subsequently placed there. The testing of the mass came back as cancer and very quickly a team of doctors and surgeons had started to prepare me for a surgery to be have this removed. I am currently on my way to the hospital for surgery. The doctor is going to perform what is called a Whipple procedure. This is where they cut out the ampulla gland. Part of the pancreas, gall bladder, bile ductwork, and possibly part of my small intestine. The surgeon says the surgery typically take about six hours once they start and is very involved. Once all of that is removed the doctor will work his magic reattach everything. They believe I will be in the ICU for a day or two and then moved to a step down unit. They believe my total time in the hospital world be between 7-10 days.

We have kept things pretty quiet thus far as it has been overwhelming. The amount of support has been amazing and humbling. Amanda will try and keep as many people in the loop as possible as I will be incapacitated. We have been asked about our needs and at this time it is kind of unknown until I come home. With that being said we are about to pull  into the hospital. See everyone in the other side!!!
