Help Motley Back to Health
Donation protected
On June 10th, 2025 we came home to find our beloved dog experiencing shortness of breath leading us to take him to the vet. From there it was then suggested we take him to the animal hospital for further testing, where we found he has a collapsed lung (cause unknown). With the vets trying to determine what caused this (trauma, cancer, etc) vet bills have already reached the double digits within a few hours and are expected to grow as we still fight to save his life (the current surgery being suggested totals over $20,000).
Motley is a heart dog, and is one who saved our family more times than we can count. At only five years old he has so much more time to live (and enjoy his muskoka chair which can be seen in the pictures). We understand times are hard for everyone right now, but if anyone’s able to donate even the smallest amount or share this post we would be so beyond grateful. He’s a special boy who means the absolute world to his family.
Thank you so much for reading his story and we hope to have good news soon.
UPDATE:
They were able to rule out cancer! After his CT scan today they did find multiple masses all over his lungs that are presumed to have resulted from an infection, but the exact cause is not 100% known. Currently Motley has in chest tubes and blood patches that are preventing his lung from re-collapsing (which seems to be allowing him to enjoy the new toy he got). Due to the updated CT scan, Motley is now scheduled for open chest surgery tomorrow (June 13th). We hope to share more good news very soon. Thank you to all who have donated, shared, or even just read his story. We appreciate you all so
much.
