Help Mother’s Roots Rebuild and Thrive

If you haven't already heard, Mother's Roots had to suddenly close its doors at the Olympia Farmer's Market in the beginning of April. This decision was completely unexpected and had to be made quickly due to the loss of a crucial employee as well as politics at the Market. While there is a 50% chance that we could reopen, it will depend completely on Farmer's Market leadership and whether new leadership wants to offer us a contract that is feasible for our business model of fresh food production.

Until then, Mother's Roots will stay open in the community as a catering company, an outlet for nutritional education and pop-up's! We have put in our applications for Art's Walk as well as Harbor Days and are looking for a space in town to open at least once a week to serve fresh eats for you all! I am also working on setting up a bone broth subscription (our bone broth, packaged to be shelf-stable, so you can have it as a staple in your home), as well as putting together a cookbook with all the recipes from our Farmer's Market menu (our sauces, lox & shepherds pie will all be included ).

Running Mother’s Roots has never been just a business for me, it’s been a labor of love, rooted in community and real food. Closing our shop so suddenly has left me personally navigating some very real financial strain: outstanding bills that came due all at once, and the day-to-day of keeping my own life afloat while I rebuild what’s next.

If Mother’s Roots has ever nourished you — with a bowl of broth, a meal that felt like home, or just the comfort of knowing we’d be at the market — I’m humbly asking you to nourish us back. A contribution of any size toward our $5,000 goal would go directly toward paying those outstanding bills and giving me the breathing room to invest in what comes next: the subscriptions, the pop-ups, the cookbook, and the catering that will keep Mother’s Roots alive in this community.

You don’t have to give. But if you can, it would mean more than I can say. And if you can’t, sharing this with someone who loves good food is just as powerful. Thank you for being part of this community and your support of us you’re the reason Mother’s Roots Kitchen exists.

With Love & Gratitude,
Chef Janna
