Hi, I’m Melissa Peery, Executive Director of Rwandan Women Rising (RWR). I am excited to launch this GoFundMe campaign with my friend, Johanna Daily, M.D., to renovate the maternity ward at the Kabuga Health Clinic outside of Kigali, Rwanda.

The clinic was started in 1999 by the Sisters of Benebikira Congregation to care for pregnant women and infants of the Kabuga area during the post-genocide recovery of Rwanda. The Benebikira Sisters have provided education and health care to Rwanda's women and children for more than 100 years.

Although it has provided critical pre- and post-natal care to the growing community of Kabuga since opening, the maternity clinic is in need renovation and expansion. The maternity clinic is currently handling approximately 100 deliveries a month with only two delivery beds. The renovation effort will deliver:
