Help Mother & Son Fight Cancer
Donation protected
During a year of uncertainty, we learned my mom’s cousin, Rukshanda (Rukhshi) Mehmood was diagnosed with Stage 2 Adrenal Cortical Cancer in September. At the time of diagnosis, she did not have health insurance. Her tumor has been removed, but she will undergo surgery in early 2021 to remove her uterus and ovaries. After learning this news, the family decided to get health insurance to help cover some of the costs.
Two months later, right before Thanksgiving, we learned that Rukshi’s eldest son, Mahad, was diagnosed with Fibroblastic Ostersarcoma Cancer on his right femur. He is only 21 years old. Mahad had been feeling pain in his knee for two years. He had an MRI and everything seemed fine and his doctor recommended physical therapy. Mahad did physical therapy for two years, with no relief he went back to the doctor for another evaluation. The doctor ordered an x-ray, which revealed a tumor on Mahad’s femur. Mahad has since started chemotherapy, which will last for 33 weeks. After 11 weeks, he will undergo surgery to remove the tumor.
Health insurance is only covering a small portion of Rukhshi and Mahad’s treatments, and medical bills are starting to add up. We graciously ask you to consider donating to help cover the cost of their treatment. Expenses include surgeries, chemotherapy, doctor visits, MRI, and CT scans. We understand this has been a difficult year for everyone, so if you’re unable to donate, we ask that you please keep Rukhshi and Mahad in your prayers and share this page with your friends and family.
We are amazed and humbled by the patience and positivity both Rukhshi and Mahad have demonstrated during this challenging time in their lives. They continue to maintain a sense of humor, always smiling and joking around. They also continue to care for their family, go above and beyond to help others, and ultimately remain hopeful for a full recovery.
Thank you for visiting this page and for taking the time to read Rukhshi and Mahad’s story.
Sincerely,
The Saeed Family
