Support Family's Journey to A Stable Life

Hi all -

During Wednesday afternoon's torrential downpour and deluge, I heard kids crying outside my living room window.

I went out and found a mom and her three young children soaked and shivering.

They had been driving down my street and had to abandon their car.

Over the course of the following 24 hours (my street remained flooded), I learned that Maya and her small children have been living at a motel on Federal Highway where she pays by the day (which makes them "sheltered homeless"), that she earns the money for each night making Insacart deliveries (something she will not be able to do anytime soon), and that her daughter has diabetes.

And that she didn't have the money to pay for any additional nights beyond last Wednesday.

And that because she's been struggling for a while she let her car insurance lapse (her car was in need of repairs even pre-flood).

We have taken care of her motel bill for the next few nights.
