Help Mother Fight Uterine Cancer
Donation protected
My dear friend Rachel Jackson does not like to ask for help, so I am doing it for her. She's a mother to three and a grandmother to five, and she has been dealt a tough hand and could use any support you can provide...no amount is too small.
For the past year, Rachel has suffered from nausea, vomiting, bleeding, pain and extreme fatigue which has left her unable to work. Her savings were exhausted while she was being treated symptomatically to no avail. She has filed for disability and is waiting for a response.
On top of not feeling well, severe depression and financial strain, she recently received the diagnosis of uterine cancer. She was immediately referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center and is scheduled for surgery on Sept. 19. She will undergo a total hysterectomy with BSO and sentinel lymph node dissection. This procedure will also determine the next steps and if cancer has spread elsewhere.
While she does have health insurance with copays, she does not have the means to pay for the costs associated with the surgery. Her copay for the procedure alone is $2,000 plus a one-time facility fee of $1,335. Her husband will also have to take unpaid time off work to help with her recovery, which will hurt them.
To be struggling to make ends meet is one thing, but to now cope with a uterine cancer diagnosis has left her devastated and afraid. If we can help remove a little bit of the financial strain of this surgery so that Rachel can focus on fighting this cancer, it would mean the world to her and her family.
