Help Morty Heal: Emergency Surgery After a Broken Arm

On December 20th, 2025, our puppy Morty had a serious fall and broke his arm. Since then, we’ve made five veterinary visits and have already spent $975 trying to help him heal. Today (January 29th/2026) we went back hoping to finally have his cast removed — but we received difficult news.
Morty’s arm did not heal correctly and the bone has fused in the wrong position (Malunion). This has reduced healthy blood flow to his paw and is causing ongoing pain and risk of infection (Necrosis). Our vet has now referred us to a surgical specialist, and Morty will need an amputation to stop the pain and protect his health.
We have researched the three specialist hospitals our vet clinic typically refers patients to and built this estimate based on their current pricing ranges for this procedure.
This has been heartbreaking and unexpected, but Morty is a happy, loving little dog and we want to give him the chance to recover and live a full, comfortable life. Dogs adapt incredibly well after this surgery, but the cost is more than we can manage alone right now.
Estimated Cost Breakdown:
• Specialist consultation & pre-surgical exam: $350
• Amputation surgery & anesthesia: $3,250
• 24-hour hospitalization & monitoring: $700
• Ontario HST (13%): $559
• Post-operative medications & follow-up care: $300
• Platform fees & safety buffer: $341
Estimated total fundraising goal: $5,500
Transparency promise: We will upload the official specialist estimate as soon as we receive it. If the final cost is lower, we will reduce the fundraising goal to match the real amount.
Any support — donations or shares — truly means the world to us and to Morty. Thank you for helping us give him the care he needs.
