Help Morti and Family Escape Unsafe Living Conditions

Hello, this is Morti.

Last week, my wife and I moved cross-country to Chicago with plans to live with a friend and her spouse. Our plan was to live in an airbnb for until the end of June when we all find a place to live together.

However, due to a mistake I made involving me taking a wrong pair of keys on our first day here, this acquaintance’s spouse was late to work. Because of this, they rescinded their offer to room together in the future and left us to find our own place in an unfamiliar city.

This past Friday, when our portion of rent was due, our roommate charged me $100 more than what we initially agreed upon. When I questioned why, an argument ensued which escalated into me getting physically assaulted by this roommate and her threatening to kill me. There were also threats of violence directed towards my cat, and I was unable to return to work that day due to my roommate purposely disabling the internet in the apartment.

Obviously, this is a situation I do not want to keep my wife and myself in, so I’m asking for help for covering expenses in order for us to leave as quickly as possible.

$1000 will go towards paying the final month of rent for the airbnb. Since this acquaintance threatened us with small claims court if we don’t pay, I don’t want to anger her further and cause problems/potential harm directed at myself or my family.

$1000 will go towards paying the deposit for our future living arrangements.

Anything additional will go towards setting up utilities, groceries, cat food, and other necessities.
