Help Moro & Paule get electricity in Haiti
Donation protected
My wife, Paule, and I have lived in Haiti since 1979. For years, we created jobs and educated Haitians in our arts and crafts studio. Now our factory is closed as life in Haiti has become increasingly difficult with rampant inflation, violent insecurity and the lack of necessities like electricity.
I am a writer and an artist; electricity is vital to my work.
For two years now, armed gangs have paralyzed the only road from Port au Prince to our coastal village Jacmel drastically inhibiting basic needs.
Fuel for Jacmel’s power plant and our generator is scarce and sold at black market prices. Last week a friend paid $9.00US/gallon. At these prices, no electricity is provided by the village power plant; Paule and I cannot afford to run our generator.
With $10,000.00, we will be off the grid and using the bright Caribbean sun to power lights, refrigerator and internet. Eight solar panels plus batteries for storage will give us energy independence. I will be able to work; Paule will be able to cook, and we will sleep at night with a fan to cool us.
Your gift in any amount will help Paule, and I live, work and sleep with the convenience and comfort of fans, lights and a cold refrigerator. We sincerely appreciate your help. Thank you very much.
