Help Morley on His Road to Recovery

Hi, my name is Kim and I am Morley's wife. On April 7th Morley and our 15-year-old son set out on an awesome father-son trip. They loaded their dirt bikes in the back of the moto van and headed for California to camp and ride some great motocross tracks.

On April 13, at a public track day at Glen Helen, Morley had a crash. It's not known exactly what happened, as it is a simple part of the track that he had negotiated several times that day, and he was unconscious for a few minutes and has no memory of the event.

He was transported to the trauma center at Loma Linda University Medical. When he arrived a full trauma team was ready to receive him. A CT scan and x-rays determined he had 9 broken ribs (5 of them in 2 places), a punctured lung, a broken collarbone and shoulder blade, a concussion, and some significant deep tissue bleeding. They did consider doing a rib fixation surgery, but his ribs are broken too close to the spine.

He received excellent care and was discharged after 4 days in the hospital. Unfortunately with his punctured lung, he can not fly home. When he is well enough we will make the long 2300km trip back home to Alberta.

He did have travel insurance and it appears that our medical bills will be covered. We have started this Go Fund Me page to cover the other expenses. Mainly lost wages, emergency flights not covered by insurance, and costs towards rehab.

We have been helped by many people so far, and it has been appreciated more than words can say. Others have been asking what they can do.
