Help Morlene Hyde in Her Final Journey
Donation protected
My name is Deyanie Staine and I am the daughter of Morlene Hyde. I have been on this two-year journey with my mom, who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It has been a tough ride, and we now suddenly hit a block, and the journey is coming to an end.
My mom came to visit me July 2023 and had pain which landed her in the ER and that’s when we found out she had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, she had no intentions of staying in America. She ended up in the ER 3 days before her flight back to Belize. The entire time the doctors in belize were telling her it’s gastritis. Due to the bad diagnosis in Belize her cancer spread and entered stage 4.
on July 1 2025 she was hospitalized at LACUSC and released on July 5 with a White blood cell count of 37,000 (the normal is less than 11,000) doctor notes said to send home with oral antibiotics but they never prescribed it. Then, a week later her WBC were at 50,000. It actually hurts more to know that the cancer isn’t the reason, it’s the negligence of the hospital. She was then hospitalized at Centinela in Inglewood and the infection was beyond what they can control and lead to the shutting down of organs.
As many may know my family and I are originally from Belize. I am fundraising to transport my mom’s body to belize for burial as she always said she wanted to be taken back home to her family and her home land.
This has been by far the hardest thing I’ve had to juggle, having a 7 week old baby and still being the person my mom wants to manage everything and make decisions for her has been a lot mentally.
However, today I am here asking for any support that you can offer, even if it’s small I would greatly appreciate it to get my mom back to Belize where the rest of her family is.
