Help Morio Recover & Get Back on the Courts

Hi, we are The Bachand Family and we are writing this on behalf of Morio Parker. Many of you know Morio as a world traveler and a tennis coach extraordinaire, but he’s more than that to those who have built long lasting friendships with him both on and off the court. He’s a warm and funny character with a huge heart, who is always trying to push his students and get the best performance out of them. He has selflessly given his life to tennis and now our hearts are breaking.

 

Since August 2021, Morio has been suffering and hospitalized from COVID-19. He was in Hoag hospital for over 5 weeks. Not only did he get diagnosed with COVID, he is also suffering from severe pneumonia which has led to blood clots in his lungs and leg and the constant need for oxygen. This will limit him immensely. Morio has since been moved to Kindred Hospital, where they can handle more acute medical patients, and is fighting to recover. He’s starting physical therapy, but he has a long road ahead of him. It can be up to a year before Morio is 100% again.

 

These past weeks have been the most frightening and literally touch and go for Morio. With all of the positive thoughts and prayers from those that love and adore Morio he has found the strength to keep fighting and is working towards recovery. He will need 24/7 care after this traumatic experience until he recovers. Morio is struggling to survive and we just want to help him any way possible. We decided that doing a fundraiser is the most practical thing we could do to help him financially.

 

We are grateful that he survived and is out of Hoag and in a recovery facility at Kindred Hospital. Morio should be able to go home within the next few days. He is still so weak; he has trouble breathing and isn’t even walking yet. Morio will not be able to work coaching his students on the courts for quite some time so he will be struggling financially as well as physically. His recovery will take time and his loss of income, the day to day costs of living and exorbitant medical bills are impossible for Morio. He cannot do it alone. Please help this beautiful person get his life back.
