Hello, friends and family! I was accepted into Cornell University’s Master of City and Regional Planning (MRP) program for Fall 2024. I am planning my move to Ithaca, NY this August (woohoo!) I am pursuing this degree because I care about building a more just, sustainable, and resilient world; in this program I’ll learn how to develop strategies and designs that make meaningful impact and improve life in our cities and communities!
I am incredibly overjoyed and endlessly grateful to attend my dream program at a world-class institution and work with internationally recognized faculty. I worked my tuchus off in my undergraduate career — I graduated Magna Cum Laude and with dual honors in a B.S. of Political Science and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (Urban Studies concentration). I conducted undergraduate research and successfully defended an honors thesis (published on FSU’s Digital Repository!), and worked as a social justice organizer locally and nationally.
While I am still reeling over this wonderful news, I feel disconcerted thinking of all the logistics and expenses that this move will take! I am a low-income, first-generation college student working paycheck to paycheck — I am seeking support to help fund this move and help me settle into a new state (i.e., plane tickets, moving-truck costs, first-month’s rent, and other move-related expenses!) I am so lucky to have such a supportive network of family and friends, and forever appreciative of the words of encouragement and love extended to me! Farewell, sunny Florida! ☀️️️ —> ☃️
