Help Moriah Fight, Heal & Move Forward

Moriah is a beautiful, bright, loving 10-year-old girl whose entire life changed in an instant after a devastating car accident. In a matter of moments, our family went from everyday life to facing something we never could have imagined.

The accident left Moriah with multiple devastating injuries. She suffered a broken right arm, a broken left wrist, severe intestinal injuries requiring major intestinal surgery and an ostomy bag, and a traumatic T12 spinal cord injury that required major spinal surgery.

As part of evaluating her spinal cord injury, Moriah underwent an ASIA (American Spinal Injury Association) examination and was classified as ASIA Grade A, the most severe classification on the ASIA Impairment Scale, indicating a complete spinal cord injury based on the neurological examination at the time of testing.

At only 10 years old, Moriah has already endured major surgeries, lengthy hospitalization, countless medical procedures, and more pain, fear, and uncertainty than any child should ever have to experience.

After initially receiving lifesaving treatment at Shands Children’s Trauma Center, Moriah is now continuing her journey at a spinal rehabilitation center in Jacksonville. Every day she is working hard in rehabilitation, healing from her injuries, building strength, and learning how to navigate a completely different way of life.

The road ahead is long, but Moriah is so much more than a diagnosis or an ASIA score. Through the surgeries, hospital stays, therapy sessions, difficult days, and enormous changes she has experienced, her beautiful smile, personality, strength, and spirit continue to shine.

Right now, our family wants to give Moriah every possible opportunity to recover, become as independent as possible, and continue experiencing all of the things a 10-year-old deserves to experience.

We are humbly asking our family, friends, community, and anyone touched by Moriah’s story to stand with her during this journey.

Donations will help support Moriah’s ongoing rehabilitation, medical care, mobility needs, wheelchair and accessible equipment, transportation, home modifications, travel expenses for her family, ostomy-related needs, and the many unexpected expenses that come with caring for a child after a catastrophic accident and spinal cord injury.
