Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting our page. We are Morgan and Matt Vanyo, and we recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past October.
Throughout our relationship, we have faced several significant medical challenges, including the return of Matt’s tumor and Morgan’s second battle with cancer.
On October 20th, Morgan was taken to the hospital due to severe leg pain. After an extended wait in the emergency room, doctors discovered a blood clot extending from her left hip to her calf. She underwent an emergency procedure in the middle of the night to remove the clot. Thankfully, the surgery was successful— the clot was fully removed, and three stents were placed in an area where Morgan’s vein had narrowed as a result of previous cancer treatments.
In the days following surgery, Morgan continued to experience severe, unrelenting pain. Further evaluation revealed compression of the artery in her left leg caused by scar tissue limiting space around the newly stented vein. Morgan required an additional emergency operation to place a stent in the artery and restore blood flow to her leg. Due to the period of reduced circulation, she also needed an urgent fasciotomy of the calf. This was devastating news, as we knew it marked the beginning of a long and difficult recovery.
As Morgan began healing, she was met with another setback— a minor infection in her leg and kidney. This required yet another procedure to place a tube to help her kidney drain properly. Morgan stayed strong and successfully overcame the infection.
She continues to recover and remains in good spirits. Her wound care has progressed enough that part of her dressing has transitioned to a wound vac, which will support faster healing with fewer dressing changes.
As of November 16th, Morgan remains hospitalized at United Hospital. She is expected to remain inpatient for several more weeks before transitioning to a Transitional Care Unit. At this time, no specific date is set, as her next steps depend on the healing of her wounds and the reduction of swelling in her legs.
Matt has been by Morgan’s side throughout this process, providing constant support, while Morgan’s mother, Tracy, has been invaluable in assisting at the hospital and helping communicate with doctors while Matt is at work.
Given the extensive medical complications and the long recovery ahead, we are asking for support with medical expenses and the increased living costs that have arisen during this time. Any contribution is deeply appreciated and will help ease the financial burden as Morgan continues to heal.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
