Hello there!
I'm Morgan Gulick, a software programmer by trade who has been trying to break back into the industry after family issues left me adrift. I've been working odd jobs to keep things afloat, but my health is not as good as it once was, and I lack the sturdiness to handle a 50 hour retail job. I have tried this, but was let go from a matter of practicality; the place I worked at had the money for a single cashier, and needed someone of sterling health. They stressed that my performance was of high quality, and offered to be a reference for future interviews, but that's not really the same thing as having a job.
Currently, I am getting interviews from programming employers around the Raleigh/Durham Research Triangle area, but these are slow rolling and limited in number. The vast majority of postings want a principal or extreme veteran of the industry to be the entire engineering team from scratch. While I am hopeful that I will eventually find a role, and am working my butt off to apply everywhere I can, time is a luxury I do not have.
Currently I have a car payment due next week that I cannot meet($337). Rent is paid for the month, but food is up in the air. What I need now is stability to keep up the fight, and push forward to a place where I am back in full employment.
I understand that times are tough not just for me, and know that any help you can give is appreciated beyond measure. If anyone knows of open entry>low(4 years) programming/software development roles in the East Coast/Research Triangle area, I would greatly appreciate that foot in the door as well.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you are doing better than I am.
