My name is Marisa Baker and I'm starting this fundraiser to try to help my brother, Morgan Baker, with his unexpected medical costs and resulting missed work. Some may know my brother as the congenial bartender at Meritage Restaurant in Scarsdale, New York (who happens to make the best cosmopolitans I've ever had!!). Others may know him as the loving father of two sons (ages 12 and 21) who has been financially (and emotionally) supporting his family on his own for several years.

However you know Morgan, you also probably know that he has always loved ice hockey. Which is why he made time in his busy schedule to play in an adult hockey league which doesn't allow any checking. Unfortunately, another player seemed to forget the no checking league rule last week and checked Morgan, breaking his collar bone quite badly in 3 different places. The injury requires surgery almost immediately, but there are significant out of pocket medical costs associated with the surgery (estimated to be between $6,000-10,000) which he simply doesn't have in savings right now.

Even after his surgery, Morgan will be unable to work at his job as a bartender for an extended period of time (the total recovery time is still unknown). While Morgan may still be eligible for short-term, state disability benefits, those benefits certainly won't cover all of his family's costs (think rent, car insurance, food, all expenses associated with a pre-teen who has a birthday next month, etc..)

If you know Morgan, you also know that he would do anything for his kids. That is the only reason that he begrudgingly allowed me to start this Go Fund Me campaign on his behalf. His first and only priority has always been his kids, so he is willing to accept help towards these costs so he can get back to work and continue to support his family. Any donation would be appreciated. They say it takes a village, so I'm asking the members of Morgan's village to chip in if you can.
